Safety role
Laser treatment is permitted only inside an independently verified operating envelope. Classification confidence alone cannot command emission; the safety chain must independently confirm that the machine, scene and treatment geometry are acceptable.
Required controls
- Independent emission inhibit and physical energy-isolation mechanisms separate from task AI.
- Bounded treatment geometry and protected operating zones appropriate to each product class.
- Automatic inhibit on sensor disagreement, unexpected object entry, loss of localization, thermal fault or enclosure/interlock fault.
- Maintenance lockout, controlled service states and startup self-test before treatment authority is granted.
- Product-specific labeling, training and verification matched to the final optical hazard classification.
