Safety Verification, Validation & Fault Injection

Evidence that safety functions work under normal, degraded and faulted conditions before deployment.

Maturity Architecture / verification required

Public-safe scope: this page defines safety architecture and engineering intent. It does not publish implementation thresholds, beam parameters, bypass logic, security credentials, or construction details.

Safety role

Safety claims require test evidence. Phase 4 therefore treats verification, traceability and fault-response testing as part of the architecture rather than final paperwork.

Required controls

  • Requirement-to-test traceability for safety controls, inhibits and safe states.
  • Fault-injection and sensor-degradation testing for representative failure modes.
  • Scenario testing involving people, animals, unknown targets, navigation faults and communications loss without exposing subjects to hazardous operation.
  • Regression testing after software, model, sensor, actuator or power-system changes.
  • Release gates that prevent deployment when safety evidence, logs or configuration control are incomplete.
