Safety role
Loss of primary power must drive the system toward a predictable safe state rather than leaving treatment energy, motion or communications in an undefined condition.
Required controls
- Segregated power domains for propulsion, treatment, compute/sensing and safety functions where appropriate.
- Independent energy isolation for hazardous actuators.
- Health monitoring for battery, charging, thermal and power-conversion systems.
- Sufficient reserve or passive mechanisms to complete required safe-state actions after primary-power loss.
- Restart inhibition until required self-tests and fault clearances are complete.
