Perception Assurance & Safe Classification

Confidence-aware classification, sensor agreement and unknown-target handling for AI-guided agricultural machines.

Maturity Architecture / verification required

Public-safe scope: this page defines safety architecture and engineering intent. It does not publish implementation thresholds, beam parameters, bypass logic, security credentials, or construction details.

Safety role

AI perception supports the mission, but safety decisions must tolerate misclassification, occlusion, sensor degradation and novel objects.

Required controls

  • Unknown or low-confidence targets default to no treatment and may trigger slow/stop behavior.
  • Independent or diverse sensing where consequence warrants redundancy.
  • Health monitoring for cameras, LiDAR, thermal, radar, positioning and environmental sensors.
  • Dataset/version traceability for safety-relevant perception updates.
  • Fallback modes that reduce capability rather than silently accepting degraded perception.
