Harvesting, trimming, planting and crop handling require physical interaction that is fundamentally different from driving or spraying. End effectors must match crop geometry and damage tolerance.

Core capabilities

  • Soft or compliant gripping for delicate produce.
  • Vacuum, suction, cutting and clipping end effectors where crop morphology favors them.
  • Force and position sensing to detect contact and prevent plant damage.
  • Quick-change or standardized tool interfaces for multiple agricultural tasks.
  • Collision-aware motion planning around branches, leaves, trellises and people.

Aurora design direction

Aurora should avoid forcing one universal gripper onto every crop. Harvest Ray and Orchard Ray share the control and safety architecture but use crop-specific end effectors and toolheads.
